Student Writing Sample 1
[This piece comes from a Do Now response, where I asked the student to describe an experience from the prior weekend using as many sensory details as possible. This student happens to be a rookie firefighter!] The heat radiated of the flames that reached high into the sky, the smell of burning wood and tiles filled the air. The roar of the engine filled the area we were in as the pump went into full drive as the water started to flow from the nozzle. The wood crackled and hissed as the heat dispersed off the burning wood as the heat started to vanish and stream rose from where the smoke once was.
